Vegan by definition, as coined by Donald Watson in 1944; is a way of living which excludes all forms or exploitation and cruelty to the animal kingdom. Vegan Honey is made from plants, fruits, and roots. There are NO BEES involved in this process. We extracted the nectar and pollens from the plants ourselves. No Bees are harmed in the making of this process. We use organic plants, fruits, purified water, alum root, raw sugar and that’s it! We have no added color, flavoring and no preservatives. What you get is straight from the plants. I’m sure you’ve heard that our precious bees are dying at a drastic rate. Do you know why bees make honey? Bees produce honey as a source of food for the hive so they can survive during the long months of winter when flowers are not in bloom. Bees must extract the pollen from 2 MILLION flowers just to make 1 POUND of honey. Honey is indeed a precious treat and sadly as humans put pressure on beekeepers and the bees to make more honey for the cheapest price possible bees are being treated unfairly. A skilled beekeeper will know how much honey the bees will need to survive threw winter and will just take what is extra. But sadly most beekeepers will remove all the honey to make the most profit and only provide the bees with sugar in return. Sugar is not at all nutritious for the bees and they simply cannot survive the harsh winter months without the proper nutrition they get from their own honey. So simply put our mission is to provide people with a great vegan alternative to honey that not only is healthy for you but is also supporting our fragile bee colonies.
